Anxiety is the most common mental illness in the U.S. It affects over 40 million adults.

Depression affects more than 17 million adults; and occurs more often in women than men.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as a treatment option for mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

  • It is an ancient healing practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow and promote healing.

  • There are known meridians throughout the body much like freeways and highways that can get blocked and cause an imbalance in the body; acupuncture aims to restore the smooth flow of energy to promote health and well-being.

  • Acupuncture is safe and effective, and it can be used to treat emotional and physical issues.

  • The needles are sterile, and single-use.

TIPS TO RELIEVE ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

Go outside for a walk and enjoy the moment. Aim to walk at least 30 minutes every day.

Take power breathes by breathing slowly and deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth. Repeat 5-6 times to activate your body’s relaxation response.

Massage your scalp in circular motions, moving from the front of the head to the back of the head. Do this daily for at least 5-10 minutes. It will improve blood flow to your head and scalp to help you feel calm and refreshed.
